In celebration of International Women's Day, we sat down to talk business with our friend and Founder of The Boss Lady - The Boss Lady herself, Jada Perfect!
Jada Perfect and The Boss Lady team started working with Dancing Through Life Studios (DTLS) in 2020 and have been with us ever since! Jada has been an invaluable asset to the business, especially during a global pandemic and two lockdowns. Her knowledge, experience and abilities continue to be an essential and valued part of the DTLS community.
Jada has since become a business coach, mentor and friend to our DTLS Founder, Lauren MacKinnon.
"Jada encourages me to think outside the box, inspires my leadership skills and empowers me to be the best Studio Director I can be for my business.
As a business coach knowing when to push and pull is a balancing act. Being a business owner herself she understands when to be a friend and when to tell you to level up! I always come out of our chats feeling more motivated and energised than when we started.
She always has my back and is my daily reminder to keep hustling when obstacles and challenges arise throughout the entrepreneurial journey. Most importantly she has been #teamDTLS the whole way through and I couldn't thank her enough! Thank you Boss Lady!"- Lauren MacKinnon, DTLS Founder and Studio Director
Anyway, enough about us. Let's hear what The Boss Lady has to say about business, the Body Lady lifestyle, achievements, inspirations and challenges...
DTLS: What is The Boss Lady and how did it come to be?
Jada: The Boss Lady is ME (haha) I am a certified business coach who offers group workshops, presentations, 1:1 VIP business coaching and we host networking events to our female empowerment community. The Boss Lady is my team of girls who offer an array of skill set to business owners to help them to elevate, scale and make more money in their business through building the right foundations, frame work and brand identity that speaks to their dream client.
It started 4 years ago when I was feeling lonely and lost in my current group of friends and wanted to surround myself with women who were as motivated and feeling the same as me within life and business. I invited 5 people to a ladies lunch where they became the guest speakers and we shared our background and history of life, career, business, dreams and how we can help each other to get to the next step.
It kicked off from there and I started to build my business on Instagram just sharing content.
DTLS: How does your business look different now vs when you first started?
Jada: The Boss Lady originated as a networking event called Boss Lady Events and I soon realised that most people were coming along to ask me questions relating to their business and they were struggling with confidence, expanding and knowing what to do next. So I started doing group workshops which quickly turned in to coaching clients 1:1 and now long term client relationships.
We now focus on educating business owners to show them the steps to take their business to the next level, make more money, scale, implement policies and procedures and utilise social media to market and make sales in their business.
DTLS: What makes your business unique to the industry?
Jada: We are a one stop shop. So when a client signs up with The Boss Lady they get access to my whole teams expertise and there team expands to my whole team. Plus we do business very different to the norm, we build personal relationships and we have a lot of fun in the process of making more money for our clients.
DTLS: What's your daily routine as a Boss Lady?
Jada: I currently own 2 businesses. The Boss Lady is my 9am-5pm and then at 5pm I head in to my pizza shop Sesame Pizza.
My routine depends on the day. Majority of the days I wake up by 8am, train, breaky at my fav café, head to the office for the morning meeting and then my day takes off from there. Majority is back to back with my clients, creating content, managing my 2x teams, lunch dates, team bonding activities, building online programs and webinars. No day is the same but I am very motivated and I like to keep busy.
DTLS: How do you deal with adversities and challenges personally and professionally?
Jada: I don’t let things get to me for more than 5 minutes. I’ll have my moment whether it be a quick cry, eat some chocolate, singing a motivating song, expressing my thought or opinion to the relevant person then I BLESS AND RELEASE and move on. As a Business owner I am a professional problem solver so it’s important to keep moving forward and staying in a positive frame of mind.
DTLS: What is your favourite part of being a Boss Lady?
Jada: Building a team who serve clients that I am very invested in. I love that my clients become my friends and my team become my family plus the added bonuses of getting paid to do what I love most and having a good time along the way.
DTLS: What has been your greatest achievement as a Boss Lady?
Jada: I would say the lightbulb moment when my clients realise they can really achieve their biggest goals and I can show them how and hold their hand along the way. There are so many moments that have been AMAZING but that one never gets old.
DTLS: Who are your inspirations?
Jada: #1 Most definitely my Muma, she is my idea of a real leader and a great woman. Everything I have done is a reflection on the great mother I have and everything she has instilled in to me.
#2 My team continue to inspire me because even on days when I don’t want to show up they are there showing up for me and encouraging me to step it up and make things happen. They keep me very accountable. #3 My day ones - Heather, Kimber and KG they were my very first clients and have become my closest and most treasured friends. They constantly inspire me and keep me motivated.
DTLS: How do you define success?
Jada: Being able to pay my bills without worry, be able to help others in many ways that don’t benefit me, having time to make my own rules but most importantly impacting peoples life’s for the better.
DTLS: What's your dream for The Boss Lady in the future?
Jada: We are luckily already living the dream but we want to help more people and see more success for their businesses, so our future plans are to provide more online programs that people can do at their pace and keep it within a budget they can afford. We will grow our team to provide more internal skill sets that our clients need within their own businesses.
DTLS: What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting their own business?
Jada: Get a business coach from day one and build the foundations of the business before you start to build a brand.
